Castiglion Fiorentino is a town in the province of Arezzo, which develops over a hill at 342 metres above sea level. The territorial boundaries of the territory to the east are given by Preappennini, municipalities north of Arezzo, Cortona in the east and south, Foiano della Chiana southwest and Marciano della Chiana west. Castiglion Fiorentino was devastated during the Second World War, yet still linked to an economy based on primary sector. Even now the main local economy is agriculture. Following the reclamation, Val di Chiana has become fertile ground and within fractions castiglionesi farms can produce good yields, as cereals, vegetables, olive trees and vines.
